Movie Effect Tutorial

Learn to create the movie like effect to any photo you encounter.

First open the picture you would like to modify.

Next you want to duplicate the current image. To do this you need to right click the orginal layer than select Dupliacte Layer.

Taking the second layer you want to adjust the Hue / Saturation. Depending on the picture the settings can vary. I will be adjusting these setting to help the Exposure settings we will be using later. Doing this also gives the image an older film effect when we add noise to the image. To get to the Hue / Saturation you need to goto Image, Adjustments, than select Hue / Saturation. For this tutorial use the settings I have below.

Now we will be adjusting the Exposure settings. Goto Image, Adjustments, than Exposure. I will be using the adjustments as below.

Than to give the image a tunnel vision effect. You want to make a new layer. Fill this layer with solid black with the paint bucket. Than using the eraser brush with a pixel of 200 erase the black layer starting form the center to give the image a soft edged blurred effect. This is what your image should appear like.

Next we need to flatten the image. So you will goto Layer, than select Flatten Image.

Next we want to add a grain like filter to give it a more movie like filmed image. To do this you need to select Filter, Noise, than Add Noise. Use the selected settings I have below.

So your final image should look like this.

You can also subtract form the bottom and top parts of the image to give it a widescreen effect.
